Best practices
Follow these best practices to ensure best results when using Squarespace AI to generate content:
- Ensure you carefully review all content generated by Squarespace AI. Because the content is created by a machine, it may not always be accurate, appropriate, or right for your needs.
- You shouldn’t publish any text generated by Squarespace AI on your site that you wouldn’t have written yourself.
- The more detailed your prompt, the more detailed the generated text may be. If text generated is too vague or generic, try being more specific in your prompts.
- Squarespace AI may generate the same or similar content for you that it generates on another user’s site, depending on what prompts you use. You should always edit the generated text to add your voice or details unique to you and your site.
- You are responsible for your use of Squarespace AI and any content you use or publish.
AI software providers
Squarespace has partnered with Open AI, Anthropic, and Google to support how Squarespace AI works. Ensure you review, understand, and agree with Open AI, Anthropic, and Google's terms of use, privacy policies, and all other applicable terms.

Generate SEO descriptions and alt text
Generating SEO descriptions and alt text using Squarespace AI is only available when using Fluid Engine on version 7.1.
SEO descriptions and alt text provide information about your site's content, and can help visitors use your site more effectively by giving your content more context. Adding SEO descriptions and alt text to your site can increase your site's visibility to search engines and help with accessibility.
To generate SEO descriptions and alt text for your site:
- Ensure you've created a Brand Identity.
- Open the SEO/AIO panel.
- In the SEO Report section, click Improve with AI. If your SEO Completion Score is 100%, the Improve with AI button won’t appear, because there are no areas to flag.
The SEO report tool then scans your site, flags areas where alt text or SEO page descriptions aren't present, and offers suggestions for those fields that optimize your content for keywords related to your business or brand. You can regenerate the suggestions or edit them directly before saving.
The tool scans for missing alt text in all image blocks, gallery sections, and auto layout sections added to regular and collection pages. Images added to collection items aren't included in the scan. All pages of your site are included in the scan for missing SEO descriptions.
Note: The SEO tool will not flag missing page titles or descriptions in areas where you’ve removed the title format variables or where you’ve added an SEO title, but not an SEO description.
Create a site with Squarespace AI
You can use Squarespace AI to help you build a site. There are three ways to create a site:

- ChatGPT - In Squarespace GPT, enter your business name, business type, your business’s brand personality, and what you want to achieve with your site. It then passes this information to our Blueprint AI Builder, and displays an example of what your site may look like.
When you create a site using any of these methods, Squarespace AI will generate text and images for it and choose style settings based on your prompts. Follow our best practices to edit generated text.
Note: The AI-created images and text on your site are generated with the aid of third-party AI software. By creating a site using Blueprint AI Builder or Blueprint AI Templates, you agree to our Product Specific Terms and understand you're responsible for any content you publish on your site.
